Near ASU and Downtown Tempe

ASU’s Tempe campus is about 2 miles away, or 8 minutes by car. That makes La Mirage a practical choice for students, faculty and staff who want to live near campus without living on it. Downtown Tempe and Mill Avenue are the same distance, with restaurants, coffee shops, nightlife and ASU sporting events. On foot or by bike, downtown is about 1.8 miles along the lake path and over the Mill Avenue bridge.

Tempe Town Lake

The path along the north shore of Tempe Town Lake is a 7-minute walk from La Mirage. The lake is a popular place for walking, running and cycling, with paths on both banks and kayak and paddleboard rentals. It’s close enough to be part of an everyday routine, not just a weekend outing.

The Tempe section of Papago Park starts where Gilbert Dr ends, a 5-minute walk west, and its trails are about 15 minutes on foot. The park’s red-rock buttes and Hole-in-the-Rock are about 3 miles by car, next to the Phoenix Zoo and the Desert Botanical Garden, which are each about 10 minutes away.

Getting around

La Mirage is just off Loop 202, so Phoenix, Scottsdale and Mesa are an easy drive. Tempe Marketplace, with shops, restaurants and a movie theater, is a few minutes east. Old Town Scottsdale is 10 to 15 minutes north, and Sky Harbor Airport is 15 to 20 minutes away, depending on traffic.
